Today in the life of me:
I moved in.
I did.
The day began with the four of us (me, my parents, and sister) driving the rest of the way here from Sacramento -- we'd driven there the day before -- and after 1/2 an hour of looking, we found the campus. Parked and waited in line. I got my key and my address, both nice things to have, and began moving the boxes in. I was amazed by the amount of things people didn't bring with them. Really, at first it seemed like no one brought anything near what I brought. And then I saw it. People had mounds of stuff. So while I had my sister and my dad help me bring all 12 boxes in my room all at once, and then spent the next hour putting it all away, most people seemed to have moved in just enough to claim their space and then stopped. Like later was a better time. Only, while I packed away my stuff, my fam. gave themselves a tour of the campus, and then we all met up for lunch with an old family friend who's a pastor in the area. And then just sort of hung out for a while. It worked out perfectly for me, and all my stuff is packed and away. Although, I think I did bring too many DVDs. That can always be fixed though. I can just buy some sort of shelving that hangs off the ceiling. *nodds* That would work. Because, you see, this room would be cramped with two, and there are 3 of us. Only we 2 showed up today, but there are 3 beds. Who knows? Had a lovely dinner with the family friend and his family (oddly enough, they all have aged since we last saw them 10 years ago. Wonder what happened with that) and then came back to the dorm. Said goodbye to the fam. and saw them off. They're headed north to Eugene, OR, to spend a weekend with my grandparents. Good luck to them, I say.
A few words about my roommate:
She's cute. Small. Dark haired and sporty. Has a nice boyfriend. They're a little too "cute" for my tastes, but I can live with that and more. I have a feeling I'll be seeing a lot of him. I'd prefer that to all this talking on the phone and being "cute" about it. But what can you do? He's a junior here, and spent the last 2 years at a JC. They both are from Walla Walla, WA. Talk about small world ...
Anyway, I'm tired. And I need to go to bed. So I will.
Night!
P.S. Happy Birthday John!!!!
